Here we have a great Cooper S Engine that has been removed from a car that being prepped as a track car. It was driven by us over 200 miles back to Devon and it went really well. The oil was virtually new and the supercharger was also in great condition, so obviously it has been well looked after. It also benefits from having a super light weight 2% increase crank pulley. The R53 MINI Cooper S has always been plagued with slow throttle response. One of the reasons for this problem is down to the weight of the stock crank pulley. The Lightened Crank Pulley is the perfect solution to remove a large amount of this weight whilst also increasing performance. The stock crank pulley weighs just over 1KG, which is extremely heavy for it's size. These Crank Pulleys weight between 250-300g This weight difference may not sound a lot thinking in terms of if you removed 0.7KG from the inside of your MINI. However, as this is a rotating mass attached to the crank, removing that 0.7KG actually has the same effect as removing 28KG from your car!. This weight loss will increase throttle response and really make your MINI feel like it's come to life. This is the +2% overdrive option. This effectively increases your pulley size by 2% (15% Supercharger pulley is then equivalent to 17%). If you already have a 15% or 17% pulley and are looking for a little more power, this is the perfect upgrade for you. A larger belt will be required too for this enlarged pulley to fit.
